Do you want to participate in an organization that impacts people's lives? Consider joining the Maryland Foundation of Dentistry Board of Directors.

Application deadline is Friday, June 6, 2025.

The Board of Directors for the Maryland Foundation of Dentistry plays a crucial role in guiding the strategic direction and governance of the organization. This esteemed group is responsible for ensuring that the organization fulfills its mission while maintaining accountability and best practices. 

Members of the Board will leverage their expertise and diverse backgrounds to provide leadership, oversight, and support to the organization’s mission. 

Terms of appointment are for three years, beginning on July 1 of each year.

We invite individuals committed to making a difference to join our Board of Directors, where your expertise can help shape the future of the Foundation.

To submit a nomination or for those interested in applying, please submit a letter of intent, preferably with a CV/Resume, to Dr. Spencer Hornstein, Past President, at info@mfd-dds.org no later than June 6, 2025. 

Many adults across the State of Maryland cannot afford dental care, especially our community’s most vulnerable residents. The Maryland Foundation of Dentistry coordinates comprehensive dental care for Maryland adults with developmental, intellectual and/or physical disabilities. These patients receive free care through the generosity of a network of volunteer dentists and laboratories whose services are performed at significantly discounted fees.  

• Provide strategic direction and oversight for organizational policies and practices.
• Engage in volunteer management to foster a strong community of supporters and advocates.
• Participate in public speaking engagements to represent the organization and its mission effectively.
• Assist in recruiting new board members and volunteers to strengthen the organization's capacity. 
• Lead committees or task forces as needed, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
• Attend quarterly Board meetings (virtual)

• Passionate about helping under-served communities in the State of Maryland.
• Proven experience in corporate, government, or nonprofit management is highly desirable.
• Background in healthcare, social work, or community service is a plus, demonstrating a commitment to social impact.
• Strong public speaking skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences. 
• Experience with fundraising, particularly for non-profit organizations, is beneficial.
• Demonstrated ability in leading teams or projects, fostering collaboration among members.
